SHA declares COVID-19 outbreak at E.S Laird

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at E.S Laird Middle School after the recent positive cases.

On Tuesday,  the Lloydminster Public School Division was advised of three positive cases.

This brings the total cases to four at the school after the first was confirmed on October 22nd.

SHA Medical Health Officer Dr. M. Nsungu sent out a letter for parents and families about the outbreak.

“The risk of the general population in the school becoming infected because of these cases is low.”

Based on the advice of the Local Medical Health Officer, students in classroom 9E will continue to learn remotely and return to school on November 6th.

The LPSD stated classrooms along with the school community have been notified and the SHA continues to conduct contact tracing.

More information will come out once it’s available.

  1. I don’t really agree with this. I get it we are trying to keep school up and running but my sister goes to that school, if there has been multiple cases who knows if that kid or teacher has been around anyone else that has been in contact with my sister or her friends. This plan is dangerous and I 100% do not agree with it. You cannot contact trace students that leave the school at lunch or even just roam the halls to go class to class.
