UPDATE: After a completed contact tracing, out of caution Grade 2 classes at Ecole St. Thomas and Grade 7 classes at St. Mary’s will move online until October 16th
The Lloydminster Catholic School Division has reported its first confirmed COVID-19 cases since reopening on September 8th.
Both Ecole St. Thomas and St.Mary’s Elementary school each had one confirmed case.
The LCSD said the Saskatchewan Health Authority confirmed the two positive COVID-19 cases on Friday.
In a release on Saturday, LCSD Director of Education Nigel McCarthy said the division is working with Public Health to inform parents and caregivers from both schools.
The SHA is currently conducting contact tracing.
“We look forward to school resuming on Tuesday and will keep parents from both schools informed over the weekend.”
McCarthy said this should be used as reminder of everyone’s responsibility to decrease the risk of the virus entering schools.
“Students and families are reminded to be diligent in performing the daily health screening, stay home if you’re ill, call HealthLine 811 if you have symptoms, practice proper hand hygiene, maintain physical distance, wear a mask, and do what you can to keep each other safe.”
To protect the privacy of those involved, the LCSD won’t be sharing any further information.
