Border City unemployment rates drop on both sides in Sept.

The jobless rate in Lloydminster saw a huge drop on both sides of the City in September.

The unemployment for the Alberta economic region of Camrose-Drumheller had a one percentage point decrease.

The region sits at 12.4 per cent compared to 13.4 per cent in September. The rate is not adjusted for seasonal employment.

Across the border, the jobless rate is 8.0 per cent for the Prince Albert and Northern region in Saskatchewan, unadjusted for seasonality.

This is an over one per cent drop compared to July’s rate of 9.2 per cent.

Employment continues to rebound since the economic shut down due to COVID-19 in March. The national jobless rate has dropped from 10.2 per cent to 9.0 per cent.

Provincially, Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.8 per cent, and Alberta dropped to 11.7 per cent.
