SHA issues COVID-19 transmission advisory in Cut Knife and Hillsdale

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is warning residents of an increased COVID-19 transmission in Cut Knife and Hillsdale.

The SHA mentioned 4 confirmed cases, most of which are not linked to one another.

“While contact tracing is ongoing, all residents in the area are requested to be vigilant, practice physical distancing (staying at least 2 meters apart from each other), ensure proper hand hygiene (hand washing with water and soap or use of hand sanitizer when water and soap are not available), and use a mask when in a public area indoors,” said Medi​cal Health Officer Dr. Mandiangu Nsungu.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can include:

  • new or worsening cough
  • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • temperature equal to or over 38°C
  • feeling feverish
  • ch​​​ills
  • fatigue or weakness
  • muscle or body aches
  • new loss of smell or taste
  • head​​ache
  • gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting)
  • feeling very unwell

Anyone with symptoms should self-isolate immediately and call 811 to arrange testing.

​The SHA issues a public health alert as a precaution when they are unable to identify all possible close contacts during a period when there was a risk of transmission of the virus. They encourage all residents to follow provincial health guidelines, including physical distancing, practicing proper hand hygiene and limit large gatherings.
