RCMP find missing 18-year-old drowned in river

Saskatchewan RCMP said they’ve found the body of a missing 18-year-old man from Lashburn.

Emergency services responded to a call regarding a missing tuber at Battle River on Saturday night.

Officials say the Maidstone RCMP were assisted in their search by Lloydminster Search & Rescue, Maidstone Fire, Cutknife RCMP, Turtleford RCMP, F Division RCMP Search and Rescue, RCMP Under Water Recovery Team, RCMP Air Support & Midwest Victim Services for almost three days before they discovered the man.

The man was pronounced dead on scene.

Hundreds of local residents assisted officials in their search by providing a plane, canoes, kayaks, horses, quads, side by sides, boats and search teams.

The RCMP says they recognize and appreciate the tremendous supportive effort from the community.

Mounties said their thoughts are with the family at this time, and they are reminding the public to be safe while in the waters as they have already received multiple calls involving rivers and lakes this season.
