Lloydminster is welcoming a new doctor to the Border City to help families.
Dr. Adeola Oyewole is the newest addition to Prairie North Health Centre to practice family medicine.
Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Oyewole did her schooling to become a doctor and then relocated to Canada to be with her husband.
She then had to take all of the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment (SIPPA) to get her doctorate license in order to legally practice in Canada.
They started in Calgary, then moved to Manitoba, and now they have settled in Lloydminster since it is where Dr. Oyewole has been placed for work.
Dr. Oyewole mentioned Lloydminster residents have been easy to work with.
“It’s been very awesome. They put a very good system in place for welcoming new doctors.”
Since the Border City has a larger population than previous places Dr. Oyewole has worked, she mentioned that she has been enjoying her time here already.
In her first weeks of practice has witnessed many new things that she has not seen before.
“I have been able to get my hands on a lot of things. This is my fourth week here so, it’s amazing. I love it here,” said Dr. Oyewole.
She began practicing in Lloydminster on June 22 and hopes to be here for many years to come.
