Free non-medical masks available for Lloydminster residents

Lloydminster residents can now receive free, non-medical face masks at select A&W, McDonald’s Canada, or Tim Hortons drive-thrus.

Government of Alberta Communications Director Blair Phelps told Lloyd Connect that Lloydminster has been treated as an Alberta city with the distribution of the masks.

Select drive-thrus on both sides of the Border City have received masks for customers.

Across Alberta, around 600 locations are giving away four non-medical masks to customers.

The move is a part of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy to assist reopening the province’s economy and reduce public restrictions.

Minister of Health Tyler Shandro announced that Alberta is the first province to hand out free masks to the public.

Albertan’s are encouraged to pick up the free masks for family members and friends to reduce traffic.

In a press release on June 8th, the province said the mask distribution is on an honor system basis.

To ensure everyone gets a mask, people are asked to respect the limit of one package of four masks per Albertan.

Many municipalities, First Nations communities, Metis Settlements, and local agencies will be receiving masks.

This includes rural and remote communities that do not have access to a partner restaurant drive-thru and are developing their own distribution plans.
